Faye
Faye
has always enjoyed dancing, commencing tap dancing at age four when she
performed for the
first time and won first prize in a talent quest, tap dancing and singing.
She started figure skating at age
twelve and progressed quickly, showing great promise after coming fourth
in her first competition and
quickly moving through the first six levels towards bronze medal but started
too late to take skating seriously.
In
the early 1990's, Faye regained her passion for dance when unexpectedly
getting a job as an
extra/dancer in a major Italian production of the Opera Tourondot at the
Sydney Football Stadium.
The experience of being on stage with a cast of a few hundred and an audience
of a few thousand
rekindled her passion to perform. She started dance classes at the Sydney
Dance Company Studios,
doing Free and Wild with Janice Claxton and Urban Tribal with Annetta
Luce and joined Annetta's
performance troupe performing at festivals and events throughout Sydney.
In
2002, Faye commenced bellydancing with Terezka Drnzik where she was introduced
to the beauty,
spiritual and emotional aspects of the dance which Terezka imparted to
her students. Faye gave her
first performance with a trio four months later at the opening of her
painting studio. She also did classes
for some time with Shiva and Sureya and loved their dynamic style.
Faye
has also performed in Essan Laurent 'Industry Nights' at Paddington RSL
in 2003.
Being asked to choreograph dances for the first time as well as teach
the dances
to the models and dancers for his extravagant fashion shows and film evenings
pushed her to develop
her skills further. She has also danced in some of his music video clips.
For
the last few years, Faye has been learning with Jrisi Jusakos, enjoying
her dance style and classes
and learning from Jrisi's experience in many styles of dance and fusion,
regurlarly performing with
Hathor Dance Studio and Ensemble One at haflas and events.
Faye
is a qualified teacher and teaches bellydance at Hurstville and Mortdale.
